Background:

The patient is a 47 year old female patient with a diagnosis of breast cancer. April 2004, The patient discovered the presence of a nodule in the upper external quadrant of the right breast. A biopsy report of the nodule confirmed an Infiltrate Ductal Carcinoma (IDC). She underwent a lumpectomy and the removal of positive regional and armpit lymph nodes. June 2005, she presented recurrence in the same area of the breast and underwent a second lumpectomy. Chemo or radiotherapy were not performed. In 2006, she presented two recurrent tumor lesions and underwent a third lumpectomy. October 1, 2007, a Doppler Color Ultrasound showed a 21 x 11 mm local lesion in the right breast (with no vascularity and no adenopathy) and two benign (25 x 25 mm and 20 x 22 mm) local liver tumors. October 8, 2007, a Doppler Color ultrasound showed a decrease in the size of the breast tumor to 19 x 9 mm.

DOB: 11/18/1955
Date of Admission: 06/05/07
Admission Diagnosis: Breast cancer (IDC)
Date of Discharge: 06/26/07
Discharge Diagnosis: Breast cancer (IDC)

Background:

The patient is a 51 year old female patient with a diagnosis of breast cancer. March 2006, the patient noticed a nodule during auto-exploration of her right breast. The nodule was slow growing. December 2006, a biopsy report confirmed Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma (IDC). The patient refused to have surgery. An MRI showed suspicious lesions on the base of the right lung. June 14, 2007, a Color Doppler sonogram performed on the breast and axillary areas showed a lesion in the breast, two right axillary lymph nodes and one left axillary lymph node with high vascularity, which appeared to be abnormal.

Treatment and conclusion:

After 7 days of SonoPhotoDynamic Therapy and a follow-up Color Doppler sonogram on June 22, 2007, results showed significantly decreased vascularity in the right breast with a corresponding smaller lesion (approximately 33.5% reduction). The lymph node in the left axilla had disappeared and only one lymph node persists in the right axilla.
